Licence and pricing

How the licence works technically, what it allows and what happens when it is missing. We do not name prices here yet.

Two offers, one term

  • Provomatic Self-Hosted: annual licence, you run the software on your own server.
  • Provomatic Managed-Hosted: we host and manage Provomatic for you: operation, updates, backups and support are part of the service. We will publish specific commitments, such as response time, backup retention and availability, in the licence shop.
  • Both run for one year and are rented to businesses only. You pay yearly or in twelve monthly instalments; the instalments include a surcharge on the annual price. It is not a monthly rental: you commit for the twelve months and cannot cancel single months.
  • Trial: 14 days for both offers, without having to give a payment method. On day 15 the licence locks if you have not entered into a contract by then. A contract arises only through your own order, never automatically when the trial ends.
  • Provomatic is the software for hosting companies. Provomatic itself sells the licence and managed hosting in the licence shop. The shop you run with Provomatic for your own customers is separate, you set its prices.

What the licence covers

  • You enter a licence key in the admin area. It applies to one installation under one address.
  • Provomatic serves its pages only under the address you set as the application address (with or without www). Other names get an error page; only the status check answers everywhere.
  • The software sets no limit on the number of customers, products or team members.
  • Local development and tests need no licence. The licence server confirms a key on at most three such development copies within 30 days.

How the check works

  • Provomatic confirms the key once a day with the vendor's licence servers. There are three, one that answers is enough. Outgoing HTTPS must be allowed.
  • If no licence server can be reached, the licence stays valid: each confirmation lasts 7 days, followed by a 14-day grace period.
  • After only 2 days without a confirmation the status check (/health) raises an alarm and names the last error. During the grace period administrators see a yellow banner with the date by which the licence must be confirmed, afterwards a red one.
  • The licence page in the admin area shows the status and the last error and checks immediately on request.

Without a valid licence

  • On a public address only the admin area keeps working. The shop, customer sign-in and customer area show “Temporarily unavailable”. This does not depend on the mode the application runs in.
  • What must not fail stays open: payment webhooks (money that arrives is booked), the cancellation button, the legal texts and the status check. The billing run in the background goes on.
  • Signed-in staff still see the shop, to check it.
  • If the licence owner has blocked a key, the admin area closes as well, apart from sign-in and the licence page.

Pricing

Prices will be in the licence shop once it opens. Until then Provomatic runs as a beta for selected hosting companies. If you would like to try the software or ask for an offer for your case, write to us.
